Privacy Policy

Home_Assistant · last updated October 9, 2026

Home_Assistant is a private, self-hosted home automation installation operated by an individual for use in their own home (see the home page). This policy explains what data it touches.

What data is accessed

With the owner's permission, the app reads data from the owner's own Google Nest thermostats through Google's Smart Device Management API: thermostat names and rooms, current and target temperature, humidity, heating/cooling mode and status. It can also send temperature and mode changes to those thermostats when the owner or household members ask it to.

How it is used

The data is used only to display thermostat status and to run the household's own automations. It is not used for advertising, analytics, profiling or any purpose beyond running the owner's home.

Where it is stored

Data stays on a server inside the owner's home. Google OAuth tokens that allow the app to reach the thermostats are stored there and can be revoked at any time from the owner's Google Account permissions page.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share this data with anyone, and we do not transfer it to third parties, other than communicating with Google's own services to read and control the thermostats.

Other users

The app has no public users. It does not collect data from visitors to this website, uses no cookies and runs no tracking.

Deleting data and revoking access

Access can be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, after which the app can no longer read the thermostats. Removing the integration from Home Assistant deletes the stored tokens.

Google API Services

Home_Assistant's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
